Adventure Therapy

Adventure therapy is a mental health therapy discipline that uses the natural environment to help individuals cope with and overcome cognitive, behavioral, social and affective concerns or disorders. We offers adventure therapy trips in Montana, Texas and Thailand doing activities such as archery hunting, fresh and salt water fishing (pier, wading, and fly fishing), martial arts, parasailing, bungee jumping, zip lining, snorkeling, diving, communicative cooking and yoga- which are all explored with therapeutic components as focus.

We offer 3-7 day long one-on-one or small group excursions.

UPCOMING ADVENTURE THERAPY RETREATS

Cultivating Leadership: July 20-24 (Thursday-Monday)

Our third annual Youth Initiative adventure therapy retreat, will be hosting 6 teens from ages 11-14 on a hiking trip in Northwest Montana. We will also be doing some creek fishing and may introduce the fundamentals of fly fishing. This years Youth Initiative will focus on Emotional Resilience (ability to adapt and manage challenging situations) and Emotional Intelligence (self-awareness, social-awareness, self regulation, social discipline). Our trip is ideal for kids at this age as we address managing significant life changes (Emotional Resilience) and how their decisions personally contribute to the social culture around them (EQ).

Embracing Responsibility: August 3-7 (Thursday-Monday)

Our first annual LEVEL 2 Youth adventure therapy retreat, will be hosting teens ages 13-16 on a hiking trip with llamas in Northwest Montana. Attendees will experience caring for pack animals, wilderness awareness, and establishing confidence in decision making.

We’ve started a nonprofit specifically aiming to provide adventure therapy trips to veterans and first responders. Evoke Changes Outdoors is a 501(c)3 non-profit corporation that provides therapeutic outdoor adventures to veterans and first responders. These adventures aid in the development of the tools used to improve an individual’s emotional coping skills, daily functioning abilities, and overall quality of life.

Montana is one of the least populated states in the country, with its name derived from the Spanish word for mountains. In many parts of this country wide open spaces are a luxury, but in Montana they are everywhere you look. Montana is called “big sky country” for a very good reason. When you come here and take in the views, you’ll see why! You will quickly discover for yourself that the pictures of “big sky country” do not do the scenery justice. The landscape clearly takes center stage, whether you are standing on a mountain, overlooking a valley teeming with wildlife, or fishing in water so clear you can see the bottom 20 feet below. Very little light pollution makes it easy to see the stars that watch over the state at night. Without a doubt, Montana has many of the most spectacular views in the country. All you have to do is open your eyes!

The South Texas Coast offers world-class saltwater fishing year-round. For the nearshore angler, there are thousands of square miles of shallow bays and over 250 miles of Gulf beach. For the offshore enthusiast, the South Texas Coast provides easy access to the blue waters of the Gulf of Mexico. We are currently offering trips on and adjacent to Baffin Bay. This narrow bay, 70 miles south of Corpus Christi, forms the boundary between the arid Lower Texas Coast and the better-watered Central Texas Coast. Baffin Bay is known for its remote serenity and its excellent fishing, be it for speckled trout, redfish, black drum, or flounder. You never know what could be at the other end of your line. Coastal fishing in South Texas is a truly memorable experience.

It’s very easy to fall in love with Thailand. Its people are friendly and fun-loving, its food and foliage are exotic and tropical, its culture is steeped in history. Thailand radiates a golden hue from its glittering temples and tropical beaches, to the ever-comforting Thai people. The culture welcomes you with a friendly smile and the customary greeting of “Sawadee (hello)”. Not only is Thailand’s scenery beautiful, the food is amazing, vibrant with color and flavor! Thailand’s national sport is Muy Thai Kickboxing or “the art of eight limbs” and can be traced back to the 16th century. Training in Thailand is a once in a lifetime experience!
